How to Get a 2025 Mazda CX-5 to Your Port: A Realistic Export Timeline

Every stage between your inquiry and a cleared CX-5 at your port — quotation, payment, preparation, export clearance, transit and import — with what speeds each stage up.

Importers often ask: “How fast can I have a CX-5 at my port?” The honest answer is that it depends on three things — whether the trim and colour are in stock, how quickly payment and paperwork move, and the route to your country. This guide walks through each stage so you can plan a realistic date.

Stage 1: Inquiry and quotation (usually within 24 hours)

Our sales team replies within 24 hours. You get the fastest complete quote when your first message includes the model year and trim, quantity, colours, destination port and Incoterm. See how to get a FOB or CIF quote for the full list.

Stage 2: Proforma invoice and payment

Once you accept the quote, we issue a proforma invoice. Payment by T/T is the fastest route; L/C at sight takes longer because banks must issue and check the credit. Vehicles are allocated to your order once payment or the agreed deposit arrives.

Stage 3: Preparation and inspection

For in-stock vehicles, shipment can be arranged within 10 working days after payment. That window covers moving the cars to the port, pre-shipment checks and photos, and export customs. Custom configurations or specific colours take longer because they depend on sourcing.

Stage 4: Transit

Transit time depends on the route and schedule, so we confirm it on your quotation rather than promising a fixed number of days:

  • Gulf and Levant: sea freight to ports such as Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Hamad, Sohar or Aqaba, by Ro-Ro or container.
  • Central Asia: rail through the China–Kazakhstan crossings at Dostyk–Alashankou or Altynkol–Khorgos, or by road.
  • Chile: sea freight across the Pacific to San Antonio.

Container shipments generally have more frequent departures; Ro-Ro sailings are less frequent but suit larger volumes. Our container vs Ro-Ro guide compares them.

Stage 5: Documents and import clearance

After the vessel sails we release the original documents — bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. Courier the originals early, or agree a telex release, so your broker is ready when the cars arrive. Import clearance time depends on your country's conformity process; start it before the cars land.

How can I shorten the timeline?

  1. Choose trims and colours that are in stock — ask us for the current list.
  2. Pay by T/T rather than L/C when possible.
  3. Start conformity or homologation paperwork as soon as the PI is signed.
  4. Be flexible on model year: the 2024 trims and 2025 trims are close in specification.
  5. Use containers for small urgent orders; Ro-Ro for planned volume.
