How do vehicles from China reach the UAE?
Most arrive by sea at Jebel Ali. DP World moved its Ro-Ro operations to Terminal 4, with an 800-metre quay and storage for 75,000 vehicles, and reported handling 545,000 vehicles in the first half of 2025 — 65% of them imports, mainly from China and Japan (DP World). Containerised CX-5 orders also clear through Jebel Ali.
What conformity rules apply to imported cars in the UAE?
Vehicle conformity in the UAE is regulated by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT). For used imported vehicles, MoIAT runs a dedicated product status statement service (MoIAT). For new vehicles, ask your clearing agent which certificate applies to a China-market model.
The CX-5 units we export are China-market specification. GCC markets apply Gulf (GSO) technical regulations, so confirm with your clearing agent or homologation partner which conformity certificate your market requires before you order. We supply the specification sheets, VIN data and factory documents that process needs.
Is the UAE a good re-export hub for the CX-5?
Many trading companies use Dubai as a base to supply neighbouring markets. If you plan to re-export, tell us the final destination so the documents match your plan. Mixed orders of 2025 trims and 2024 trims are common for this kind of trade.
The GCC common external tariff of 5% applies to goods imported from outside the GCC customs union (UAE government portal). Free-zone rules differ, so confirm with your broker.
Import rules change. The notes on these pages are general guidance with sources, not legal advice — confirm the current requirements with your customs broker before you order.
Can you ship to a Jebel Ali free-zone company?
Yes. Give us the consignee details on your inquiry and we prepare documents accordingly.
Which shipping method suits Dubai?
Ro-Ro for larger volumes; 40HQ containers for one to four units or mixed orders.
